629 Euclid is a historic 15-story bank building in downtown Cleveland, a few blocks east of Public Square. Until 1922 it was Cleveland’s tallest building.

The centerpiece of the Euclid Ave façade is a four-column Corinthian colonnade three stories tall. Behind is an elaborate banking hall which is now used as a steakhouse.

A portion of the upper floors were converted into a Holiday Inn Express, and seven other floors into urban housing.

Using historic tax credits, the conversion into housing was conservative and minimally invasive.  The existing office hallways with glass entry doors and elaborate marble floors and wainscoting give access to the units. Lining the existing corridors are linear service bars of kitchens, bathrooms and storage, with open loft like spaces beyond, looking out of the large double hung windows.

The generous ceiling heights and large windows made appealing homes which were quickly absorbed into the market
