10 Sargent lane

Atherton, CA

10 Sargent was a study for a house in Atherton, woven with its site through courts, stairs, banks, ramps and voids, threading inside and out, above and below, repeatedly.

Three linear bars of program form two courts, one a car and service court, the other a central court that ties the programs together. These bars are linked with bridges and decks.

Living, dining, kitchen and family spaces are an L with the master suite completing a U connected with a bridge on the upper level. Another bridge floating over the court below is an outdoor family eating area. Five bedrooms are below the main bar, linked to a media/playroom and mechanical areas. A separate guest house connects with a stair to a pool at the lower part of the site. Above are garages and car court, all framed in the overall rectangle.

I am saving these ideas hoping for another opportunity to explore them further.
